P5-7 Trip to the Library

18th Oct 2018

We had a great trip to the Library today. The children in P5-7 got to learn about The Dewey Decimal Classification System which is the most widely used method for classifying books which are non fiction. They also learnt that fiction books like those written by David Williams are arranged by the authors name. So David Williams would be in the D section.

Carol read to us and told us interesting facts about bugs and also read a funny poem called wonkey donkey. The children were then allowed to explore the library and see if they could use the two different methods of arranging and classifying books.

At the library you are allowed to take out up to 9 books at a time. We thought that might be too high in case we misplaced some so 3 seemed like a better number.

The library also has computers which you are allowed to use in half hour sessions.

All the children enjoyed the trip and are now aware of the friendly staff and exactly where the books for them are in the library.

Super thank to Carol was said by Lily and Noah.
