Big Walk & Wheel Launch 2023
We were delighted that Steven, from Sustrans, chose our school to launch the Big Walk and Wheel Challenge 2023. It was lovely to welcome Aidan Dawson, the Chief Executive of the Public Health Agency, and James Redmond, the new DfI Acting Director of Transport Planning and Policy, to Tobermore Primary to help celebrate the launch of the Big Walk and Wheel 2023 and to see the Active School Travel Programme in action. Steven delivered a cycle skills session with the pupils in Mrs Hawthorne's class to help animate the visit, which was followed by group photographs. We then provided our visitors with lovely tea, scones and some sweet treats. Laura and Geraldine from Sustrans were also in attendance along with Beth Harding who is the Active School Travel Manager.
Mrs Hawthorne and her class were privileged to be part of this huge event in which a huge number of schools are taking part in. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and they were a credit to our school. We are looking forward to continuing with our hard work as we come to the end of our final year of direct officer support and hopefully succeed in our Gold Award. We, as a school, will continue to promote and take part in Sustrans events in the future.
