Hello Yellow World Mental Health Day in P1 & P2

8th Oct 2024

Today we all wore something yellow to mark ‘World Mental Health Day’ on Thursday 10th October. We talked about things that sometimes make us feel sad or worried.  The children also discussed activities they enjoy doing like playing outside, riding their bicycles, watching television and going for walks. We agreed that it’s good to do things that make us feel good. The children were reminded that it’s ok to feel sad or worried and just like Ruby in the story it’s good to talk to someone if you do feel like this. We listened to and watched stories about children who were sad or worried. The children all thoroughly enjoyed the yellow treasure hunt the student council set up for us outside in our playground. They enjoyed talking about different colours and how these effect our emotions, everyone agreed that yellow makes us happy! There were certainly smiles all round when they decorated their cup cakes with yellow icing and sprinkles!
