Literacy Fun in P1 & 2
The children in P1 & 2 have been learning all about alphabetical order. We discussed why names/words are recorded in alphabetical order and where you would find names/words in alphabetical order e.g. a dictionary, a phone book and our class register. The children were organised into different groups and had to put all 26 letters into alphabetical order. After that they had to match the capital letters to the lower case letters - they worked really well together and gave me the 'thumbs up' to signal 'job done'!
P1 children were learning about 'syllables'. They had to clap, beat and tap the number of syllables in a variety of words using their body parts and musical instruments. Then the children had to sort a collection of words into the correct hoop depending on whether it had 1, 2 or 3 syllables.
