We had of wonderful day of interactive learning, where all our lessons centred around Pancakes. Our morning numeracy lesson involved buying pancakes, finding change and solving money problems. We then got into the fun messy part of the day where children got stuck in and helped to weigh, measure and bake pancakes. P.1 and P.2 came in to give us some help to eat the delicious pancakes. The best bit was when they got to choose what delicious toppings to go on their pancakes...yummy. In our literacy lesson the children came up with some brilliant questions to go home to Mr Hawthorne, the baker. They looked at different question words and thought of some very interesting questions to ask. The children will then word process the questions and pick their favourite 2 to ask Mr Hawthorne. We look forward to hearing the answers. In the afternoon the children looked at the celebration of shrove Tuesday and learn all about food celebrations in different countries. After that it was time for the "Pancake Tossing Competition." The winner was Matthew McGuckin....Well done Matthew! Mrs Smyth has gained a few extra lb's and really can't wait to go home and make pancakes all over again!!
