Parent Update - 4th January 2021

4th Jan 2021

Monday 4th January 2021

Dear Parent/Guardian,

REMOTE LEARNING - SCHOOL PLANS

May I start by wishing you a Happy New Year! Here’s to brighter days in 2021! As I mentioned in my correspondence on Thursday, I am writing to you today in order to inform you of our plans for remote learning next week.

At the moment DE guidance states that primary school pupils will return to school on Monday 11th January, therefore our plans are for this week only. However, as we all know by now, the situation could change at any moment, and if this turns out to be the case, we will communicate further plans with you asap.

Remote learning for our pupils will take place from Wednesday 6th January - Friday 8th January. The following key points should be noted:

  • Learning will be a mixture of activity packs for all pupils should be collected from school on Tuesday 5th January at 3:15pm or on Wednesday 6th January at 9:30am and work uploaded onto online platforms e.g. SeeSaw, Microsoft Teams and the Home Learning Page
  • These packs will include one Literacy and Numeracy activity for each day, along with a further curriculum activity e.g. WAU.
  • The majority of remote learning this week will not be new learning. It will mostly be revision of topics taught in Term One. This would be the case if the children were in school.
  • Communication between teachers and pupils will take place via SeeSaw for Year 1 to Year 4 and Microsoft Teams for Year 5 to Year 7 . It is important that this is accessed each day, in order to keep up to date with learning requirements and further supplementary materials. If you have any issues accessing Microsoft Teams or SeeSaw, please get in contact with the school.
  • Parents should not use Microsoft Teams or SeeSaw to communicate with staff. It is solely for pupil/teacher communication. If you wish to contact your child’s teacher, you should do so via email.

It is vital that all work is completed by your child(ren) and uploaded to their teacher in order for staff to gauge understanding and progress of work provided. This can be done using the online platforms or via email. If for any reason you are unable to complete your work, please contact your child’s teacher to let them know .

Once again, I want to thank you for your continued support and understanding as we navigate through these difficult circumstances together. If you have any questions or queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Yours faithfully,

Mr Ian Cheevers

(Principal)
