P1 & 2 enjoy Winnie Wagtail

16th Jan 2017

Last week our shared reading activity was based on the fantastic children's book 'Winnie Wagtail'.  It you haven't read it - I highly recommend you do (even us grown ups would thoroughly enjoy it)!  The author uses  such lovely, expressive language to describe the movement of the animals' tails and a range of descriptive language instead of the word 'said'.  The children couldn't help but giggle as the author well and truly captured their imaginations.  They enjoyed re-enacting the story using a range of props - see enclosed photographs.  Whilst computer based toys are valuable and have a part to play in our children's learning stories such as 'Winnie Wagtail' remind us of the importance of good, old fashioned story books!
